038 It Feels Like Forever

I always smirk at those people who tell you "See you next year!" on New Year's Eve. It's a big joke that it sounds like you aren't going to see one another for a long time when it is really a matter of hours/minutes. I had this feeling the other day when I was talking to Jimmy about eating.

For anyone who is really behind, Jimmy has been doing a two week pre-op liquid diet in preparation for his gastric sleeve WLS. He hasn't eaten any solid food since Friday, November 2nd. It really seems like it has been forever since we sat down for a regular meal.

More mind boggling still is the fact that Jimmy won't be able to eat regular solid foods again until sometime in January! When you say January it just feels like it is so far, far away. Yes, it really is weeks away but in the grand scheme of things life will be back to normal sooner rather than later. It just doesn't feel that way right now.

I guess what I am trying to say is that it is all a matter of perspective. When you think about the number of years and choices it took to get us into this bad position versus the time we have invested to this point in correcting it--we still have a long way to go! However, it is totally achievable. We just have to keep our perspective fixed on why it is worth it to keep trying!

Don't give up on your goals! You can make it! Victory is closer than it seems.

036 My Favorite Things

Well, Friends, we are into the post-op now. I don't know if I will be updating quite as frequently as I have been but I will definitely attempt to be on here no less than once a week to let you know what is going on in our world. It's hard to know what all I should write about now so if you have questions feel free to message me because it may spark an idea for me and that would be much appreciated.

I did want to take this opportunity to talk about a few of my (Christiana's) favorite moments over the last few weeks. The pre-op liquid diet was really hard and stressful. Then we were straight into the surgery and now we are in post-op. I just wanted to take time to be thankful for the really good/funny moments that happened so that they won't be lost.

I decided the best way for me to share my favorite things with you was by posting pictures of them. So here they are, Christiana's favorite things:

We had really awesome support.
This is a conversation between Jimmy & Melissa
about the day that Melissa did the liquid diet w/ him.
This was Melissa's husband's response to their
conversation as posted on Facebook.

Jimmy was really sweet and wrote some supper nice
things about me so I felt that needed some recognition.

The kids from our church's daycare absolutely love Jimmy
and they got him some toys to help him get well soon.

033 Thursday is NOT Jimmy's Friend

Good morning and welcome to Thursday. Normally Thursdays are pretty good. The week is half over and it's almost Friday. However, this week I have have a feeling that Thursday is not going to be a friend in the Mustion Mansion (that's what nicknamed our house).

The reason that I feel this way is valid. #1 Today is the last day before Jimmy goes in to have his WLS. So we are making lots of last minute preparations. We are welcoming my parents and a friend who in to stay while they help us out the next couple of days. But the real reason that Thursday is not our friend this week is because #2 Jimmy has to drink a doctor prescribed 10oz liquid laxative. YUCK! So pardon my bathroom humor, but things are going to be poopy around here. Sorry if that's TMI.

So please be praying for Jimmy today. On the prayer note (not the poopy one) I also wanted to make today better by showing you a clip of the wonderful support that we have been receiving from our church. I hope you enjoy watching it, and please remember to keep praying for Jimmy.

Jimmy weighed in yesterday and found out that he had lost 37 POUNDS
on his liquid diet! Congrats, Jimmy!

029 Pre-Op Week 1 Update

Friday! Friday! Getting down on Friday! Ok, now that I have had my Rebecca Black moment I can get to work. So I have been promising more videos from Jimmy and today you are going to get it!

Jimmy has been recording daily video diaries about his experiences during week one of the pre-op liquid diet. I have compiled all of this weeks clips into one video for you that I am posting right here--right now! No editing has been done to the actual video clips so you will see and hear everything that Jimmy has recorded for you. The video is about 6 minutes long and I hope you enjoy it.

But real quick before I post the video I want to say a BIG THANKS to our friends, the Grieve Family, who live in Arizona. Feeling the love and support from you guys. Thanks for the Flintstones vitamins that you sent from our WLS Wishlist on Amazon. We still have a lot of things that we need to buy to get ready for the surgery and beyond. THANK YOU!!!

Now on to the show!

024 Prepping for the 2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! Jimmy starts his two week pre-op liquid diet today. We will be giving you updates on how he is doing along the way.

Yesterday, Jimmy and I really started cracking down and getting ready for today's kick-off. As many of you who follow Jimmy on Facebook know he celebrated his "Last Day" yesterday. I am going to post the pics of two of his "last meals" here so that you can see some of the things Jimmy is really going to miss. Then make sure to check out the video of Jimmy cleaning out the kitchen in preparation for his liquid diet.

It's all right here on Jimmy Goes Gastric!

019 Jimmy's 3 Week Pre-Op Update

Hi, everyone! Today marks three weeks to the day out from Jimmy's surgery (November 16th). Yesterday Jimmy had to go for a check-up with the cardiologist to get the ok for surgery. Needless to say we had A LOT of waiting at the Cardiologist's office so we decided it would be a great time for Jimmy to record another vlog for you.

Hope you enjoy!
